Resource-Based Learning
What Students Do (cont'd)
| Use
Information Students will read, hear, view and touch resources. During this step, they will develop a method for recording pertinent information. This may include writing key words on note-cards or in a chart or a research organizer. Some students may benefit from making a print copy of the material and highlighting key words and phrases. When using electronic resources, students will need guidance to ensure that their gathering isn't simply a cut and paste exercise. It is important that students put information into their own words and give credit to their sources. |

| Evaluate Evaluation is an integral part of each step of the process. It is beneficial for students to engage in evaluating how well they understood the task, located resources, and gathered and organized information. Reflecting on this will help them recognize areas where growth occurred or where more practice is needed. Judging the effectiveness of their presentation concludes their resource-based learning endeavour. |
