Word Processing Activities

Introduction:

The word processing document cycle is an adaptation of the information processing cycle that may involve all or some of the following:

  • Origination - The origination of a document involves putting thoughts into word.
  • Production - Production involves converting the originator's text into readable form by keying and printing the document.
  • Revision - A document must be proofread, revised and edited focusing on producing the most effective means of communication
  • Reproduction - Making copies of a final document.
  • Distribution - To get the finished document to the receiver.
  • Storage - Manage, classify, arrange and store documents so they can easily be retrieved.

The goal of the following activities is to get students to originate, produce, revise, reproduce, distribute and store word processed documents.

Whenever possible get students to type essays, research papers, notes, or other important documents so they practice keyboarding, editing, planning, formatting, and revising text.
