Activity 2 - Scanning for a High-resolution Application

1. Select several personal photographs on a subject of interest suitable for making a collage or "scrapbooking". Examples could include your favourite activity, summer highlights, family tree, your childhood, and so on.

2. Choose the appropriate scan settings for these photographs to be able to be printed at photo quality, including at least one to enlarge and crop.

3. Save the images in .jpg format (unless otherwise instructed)

4. These images are now ready to be used in creating a 1-2 page layout on your topic. Use a desktop publishing program or even a photoediting program to arrange your images, add text, etc.

Sample Scoring Rubric (downloadable in doc|pdf|rtf formats)

Level 2 Two images have been scanned at the appropriate resolution and placed into a suitable document for printing at a high resolution. At least one photo has been enlarged and then cropped to bring focus onto one element of the original image.
Level 3 Three or more images have been scanned at an appropriate resolution and placed into a suitable document for printing at a high resolution. At least one photo has been enlarged and then cropped to bring focus onto one element of the original image, while maintaining the sharpness of the image.
