Meaning
|
| Analog | - traditional, non-digital video |
| Animation | - the small change of one picture to the next to give the impression of movement |
| Antialiasing | - a feature of some software which smoothens
a graphic which doesn't ordinarily conform to a grid. Antialiasing copies colours where they meet (see interpolation), thus creating an illusion of smoothness. |
| Applet | - a Java code program(see Java). You can use small Java programs without having to know anything about their code. A Java applet such as Zoom or Ptviewer (by Helmut Dersch) allows you to avoid having viewers having to download plugins to view a panoramic image. To use this you need to learn how to setup a folder with your images and the applet somewhere in your website. |
| Aspect ratio | - the ration of an object when comparing the width to the height. Standard video has an aspect ratio of 4:3 |
| AVI | - stands for Audio Video Interleave. A Microsoft supported video format. |
| Bitmap | - most common medium
for images like photographs because they have subtle gradations. Examples include JPEG images. They are resolution dependent, meaning you cannot enlarge the image without a loss of quality. |
| Bitrate | - used to measure
information flow, this indicates the number of bits (pieces of computer information) per given time interval. Digital audio is often measured in kbps (kilobits per second) |
| Bracketing | - the practice of taking more than one photograph of an area to ensure proper exposure. It's useful to do when multiple images overlapping each other must be blended together to create a panoramic immersive image. |
| Buffer | - temporary storage space is
used for a segment of the file so that data continues to flow smoothly |
