Module Information

This module is about the basics of lighting the stage. Systems for controlling lights, light setup, and lighting safety as well as an introduction to lighting design will be covered.

The activities in Lighting Basics will address lighting systems, types of lighting fixtures, and how to service lighting instruments. The activities in the lighting Control Systems section will address lighting consoles, the setting of cues, transitions and the lighting technical rehearsal. There is information and activities in the Light Set-up section to begin the basics of lighting design, how to fill out a hook-up sheet, how to hang lighting fixtures, to explore the uses and theory of colour filters, and how to focus lights. There is also a section about Safety and lighting.
