6.3 Hanging Costumes

Costume care require that they be hung-costumes need a hangar and a rack to be placed upon. Costumes are generally of a material or a fabric that will crease if folded or crammed into a bag.

Costumes need to be allowed to hang to make them useable. Hanging the costume, also, allows it to dry from its last use and to be ready to be used again. It is also much easier to locate the costume for performance or for maintenance if they are hanging on a hangar on a costume rack.
Hanging Costumes
In storage or during a play, hanging is the best way to keep costumes organized, clean and safe from damage. For large and heavy jackets, use a strong hanger. Trousers can be hung from clips or special hangars too. Fold to save the crease in the leg before hanging.
