7.1 Make-up Basics

Stage make-up is not the same as every day make-up! 1000's of watts of lighting power require some interesting make-up techniques to help the actor look their best on the stage.

Make-up is a fundamental part of stage performance. Because actors work in a light controlled environment, they must use make-up in order to be seen. Besides establishing visibility, make-up can serve to establish character or age. Make-up may also be used as a special effect to show injury or progressive aging.
